The AmSECT Safety Committee Student Essay Contest would like to award $1,000 in prize money to the top two writers of a safety essay. The essay should be about patient safety, but the specific content should demonstrate your passion for patient safety and perfusion.
For instance, the essay may be about a near miss, a sentinel event, or even a scenario that you consider high risk but has yet to result in an issue. For full depth, incorporate the use of safety mitigators, analysis or possible solutions (including but not limited to, the AmSECT Standards and Guidelines) to the issue into your essay.
Application Requirements:
The essay should be 1,000 words or less and submitted by January 13, 2023. Each essay will be scored on novel content, safety analysis, and grammar. The top two essays will win $1,000 each and will have their article submitted to the AmSECT Today quarterly newsletter. This essay contest is open to active perfusion students only. If your essay file size is greater than 1000000 KB, you can email your essay to amsect@amsect.org.
