The Leadership Symposium is a series of three pre-event webinars and a one-day Leadership Conference geared toward aspiring perfusion leaders.  Applications will be reviewed by the AmSECT Leadership Task Force; attendees are selected on the strength of their qualifications, experience and personal statement. Completed applications will be accepted until Tuesday, October 1. All attendees will be notified of acceptance by Monday, October 28.  You will then have two weeks to confirm attendance and pay the registration fee (deadline: November 10). Pre-work is required; assignments will be sent in early November. An application file that is incomplete will not be reviewed. 

For those planning to also attend the 2020 International Conference beginning March 6, a $100 discount will be applied to the conference registration fee.

Registration Fee: $500. Fee includes all course materials, continental breakfast and lunch.

Who Should Attend

The AmSECT Leadership Symposium is intended for perfusionists who are current or aspiring leaders, including those currently in management positions who desire to improve their leadership potential.

Program Structure

All attendees will need to participate in the three pre-conference webinars and the in-person conference. The Pre-Conference webinars are scheduled for January 9, January 30, and February 20, the in-person conference will take place on March 5. The full agenda for all of the webinars and the in-person conference can be found here

The program will be divided into four courses focused on different leadership domains: personal leadership, team leadership, organizational leadership and performance improvement. Each course will include both didactic presentations and interactive workshop activities.

AmSECT Membership Eligibility

An Active Member shall be any perfusionist active in the practice of extracorporeal circulation technology. There are also opportunities to become a Transitional Active Member for those less than a year removed from graduation from an approved accredited training program. Other options include; an Associate Membership, International Membership, Perioperative Blood Management Clinician Membership, and Student Membership.
