Michael Phillips, CCP LCP

List Digest, Jun 27, 2021
My apologies to Specialty Care and AmSect for this post. I was informed by AmSect administration of Specialty Care’s generous contribution to the scholarship fund. I realize without corporate sponsorship AmSect’s mission would be more difficult to fulfill.

(in response to Michael Phillips, CCP LCP)
Mr. Phillips,
Your original assumption was not misplaced.
Since the inception of this society our members have made a conscientious effort to avoid any impropriety from business or “outside” groups.
During the early 1970’s there were many vocal expressions about the same “perceptions” that you mentioned.
Hopefully, this latest concern is just a moot point.
Warm regards, T. Muziani

James A. Reagor, MPS CCP FPP

List Digest, Jun 27, 2021
(in response to Michael Phillips, CCP LCP)
Michael,

To answer your last question first, I was employed by Baxter Perfusion
Services over 20 years ago when they first began providing perfusion
services. I worked for them for about a year. The company has gone through
a few name changes over the years, but it began as Baxter.

AmSECT's mission, in summary, is to support perfusionists and our patients.
We have strategic partnerships with our industry colleagues as well as
service providers. Part of AmSECT's strategic plan under President Debois
and continuing during my term, included investigating partnerships with
service providers. We have a very successful relationship with
Comprehensive Care Services (CCS) which was announced in Nashville in 2019
and now a partnership with SpecialtyCare as well. These relationships are
intended to provide AmSECT with a deeper pool of volunteers who are being
encouraged by their employers to participate in the society. We are
interested in partnering with other perfusion service providers as well. If
your company is interested, please reach out.

You may notice banners from many of our partners on our website, in emails,
and at our conferences. This practice has been in place for many years and
SpecialtyCare is not being promoted over any other partner any more than we
would promote, say Terumo over Medtronic. AmSECT's mission is directly
supported by our industry and service provider relationships and we would
not be able to provide the services we do without them.

Thank you for the question, Michael. If there are any other specific
concerns you have, please let me know. Also, if I didn't answer your
question to your satisfaction, we can chat further.

Take care.

Jim Reagor
