Log in to access the recertification applications. All recertification applications can be found under 'My Certifications', navigating to your 'Completed Certifications' tab and clicking the blue 'Manage' button.
Recertification Filing Deadline
All recertifications must be electronically filed no later than February 28, 2023, or they must submit the required $50 late fee.
PBMT Recertification
All Certified Perioperative Blood Management Technicians (CPBMTs) must complete the recertification process annually. Recertification is to declare to the public that the CPBMT continues to meet current knowledge standards in the field through continuing education and clinical activity.
Step 1: Submit Application
The CPBMT Recertification Online Application which can be found under your 'My Certifications" page, includes the following information:
- Personal and employer information
- Facility and confirming individual information
- Clinical Activity Report: Fifty (50) clinical cases utilizing cell saver technique performed during the previous year. This list must include the Hospital/Clinic, date, surgeon, procedure performed, Surgeon, Procedure Type, Adult/Pediatric. Procedures must be specific (Total Hip Arthroplasty, Posterior Spinal Fusion, etc.). Procedure categories will not be accepted (Ortho, Vascular, Emergency, Heart, etc.). Procedure Type must be Autotransfusion, Platelet Gel or Stem Cell
- Authorization for Release of Information and Case Verification Form
- Documentation of five (5) Continuing Education Credits
- $100 non-refundable recertification fee: a $50 late fee will be added to any submissions after February 28th.
Please submit your Clinical Activity Report, Case Verification Form and documentation of CEUs through the online application form’s upload function. If you cannot upload your required form through the online application, please email them to ibbm@amsect.org.
Step 2: IBBM Verifies Information
Within approximately 90 days of receipt and verification of the application and supporting documentation, you will receive a letter and a new CPBMT certificate. This information will be sent via USPS mail.
PBMS Recertification
All Certified Patient Blood Management Specialists (CPBMS) must complete the recertification process every two years. Recertification is to declare to the public that the CPBMS continues to meet current knowledge standards in the field through continuing education and clinical activity. All CPBMSs will need to recertify every two years.
Step 1: Submit Application
The CPBMS Recertification Online Application which can be found under your 'My Certifications" page, includes the following information:
- Personal Information
- Employer Information
- Facility Information and Confirming Individual Information
- Documentation of 10 Continuing Education Credits
- $100 non-refundable recertification fee: a $50 late fee will be added to any submissions after February 28th.
Step 2: IBBM Verifies Information
Within approximately 90 days of receipt and verification of the application and supporting documentation, you will receive a letter and a new CPBMS certificate. This information will be sent via USPS mail.
CES-A® Recertification
All Adult Certified ECMO Specialist® (CES-A®) must complete the recertification process every two years. Recertification is intended to declare to the public that the CES-A™ continues to meet standards of current knowledge in the field through continuing education and clinical activity.
Step 1: Submit Application
The CES-A® Recertification Application which can be found under your 'My Certifications" page, includes the following information:
- Personal Information
- Employer Information
- Letter from supervisor, program director, or ECMO coordinators
- Documentation of 10 Continuing Education Credits (CEUs must be ECMO related. Examples of accepted CEUs are: AmSECT University course, attendance at ECMO high-fidelity simulation situation, ELSO 101 course on ECMO, wet labs etc)
- $150 non-refundable recertification fee: a $50 late fee will be added to any submissions after February 28th.
*Every 25th application will be audited by the IBBM board.
Step 2: IBBM Verifies Information
Within approximately 90 days of receipt and verification of the application and supporting documentation, you will receive a letter and a new CES-A® certificate. This information will be sent via USPS mail.
