VAD Coordinator-Pediatric

Position: VAD Coordinator-Pediatric

Location: Austin, TX

Description: The Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease at Dell Children’s Medical Center is seeking the support for a Mechanical Circulatory Support Specialist/Coordinator. The coordinator will be a member of the Pediatric Heart Failure and Transplant Team as well as integrated in the perfusion support services. This position will report to the Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support and will collaborate with Heart Failure Physicians, Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Heart Center leadership, and the rest of the multidisciplinary team involved in the care of ventricular assist device (VAD patients)

Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a current license to practice in the State of Texas. At least 5 years of clinical experience. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Possess expert knowledge of the growth and development of pediatric patients and in the evaluation of deviations from the norm. Demonstrate an independent work initiative, sound judgment, problem-solving skill, leadership ability, diplomacy and a professional demeanor. Possess motivation to promote continuing education, improved nursing practice and family-centered care. Flexibility and creativity. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position.
