Perfusionist

DESCRIPTION:

Provides quality, compassionate care by maintaining standards of professional Perfusion practice and creating positive therapeutic relationships with patients/families. Articulates expected standards of care, encourages team members, and supports their contributions. Provision of clinical cardiopulmonary bypass / extracorporeal circulation, intra-operative blood salvage services, cardiopulmonary support, and other ancillary perfusion functions.

 

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Graduate of a Cardiovascular Perfusion Technology Program and eligible to take the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) certification exam. Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.

AmSECT Membership Eligibility

An Active Member shall be any perfusionist active in the practice of extracorporeal circulation technology. There are also opportunities to become a Transitional Active Member for those less than a year removed from graduation from an approved accredited training program. Other options include; an Associate Membership, International Membership, Perioperative Blood Management Clinician Membership, and Student Membership.
