The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) is seeking a Perfusionist to join our growing team. The perfusionist will operate extracorporeal circulation equipment and autotransfusion equipment during any medical situation, including the circulation of blood during open-heart surgery. He/She will assist the Perioperative Services area to achieve key performance indicators focused on perfusion services and is responsible for the selection of appropriate equipment and techniques to be used. The selected candidate will ensure the safe management of physiologic functions and consult with physicians in the selection of appropriate equipment and resources required for extracorporeal support of patients’ circulatory or respiratory functions. • Completion of an accredited cardiovascular perfusion training program.
• Bachelor’s degree in perfusion technology, life science, or allied health specialty (e.g., Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Medical Technology).
• Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion and licensure as a Perfusionist in the state of Texas. New grads tenure contingent on passing the ABCP exam.
• Validated for Basic Life Support and successfully complete accreditation and other regulatory requirements within the probationary period.
