All of our full-time perfusionists are encouraged to attend conferences and to be active participants in their respective state perfusion societies, so we offer funds and paid time away to attend professional meetings.
The Position and Team
We're looking for an experienced perfusionist or strong new grad to join our team in Bellingham, Washington! The ideal candidate is excited to learn new procedures and new equipment. This perfusionist should also be willing to troubleshoot any problem that could arise.
We want someone that is self-motivated, dependable, and teamwork oriented. A typical day in this account has a non-call perfusionist do morning case, while the on-call perfusionist comes in later for the second case. Most cases are scheduled - there is an occasional weekend case, but rarely is there a weeknight call. The caseload consists of CABGs Valves, Circarrest, Asc Ao, VADs on standby for TAVRs, convergents and lead extraction -all adult only. There are typically 230 to 320 cases annually, so about 115 per perfusionist. The two perfusionists work with three surgeons that are all fast and easy-going. This account does have ECMO, but usually, only two or three annually.
This is a great account with a moderate work load. You'll be in a great environment with the opportunity to take on more responsibility with experience.
Bellingham is right on the water, too! It's a short boat ride from the San Juan Islands, one hour from the Mt. Baker ski area, one hour from Vancouver, and only an hour and a half to Seattle. The climate is mild - with lots of evergreen trees, hiking trails, biking trails, and lakes for canoeing, you'll always have someone fun to cross of on your bucket list. Also, being a college town, you'll be able to test out tons of microbreweries in your new city!
