Position: Perfusionist

Location: Springfield, IL


The American Board certified, IL licensed or IL license eligible, Staff Perfusionist will join a cohesive and tenured team of perfusionists with a program that has an all adult caseload with less than 5% cases performed off pump.

The ideal candidate will have experience with all aspects of cases requiring the heart lung machine including CABG, valve and major aortic cases. We also provide cell saver services for heart cases and major vascular cases, HIPEC, and TAVR. Working knowledge of ECMO and VAD required. Call responsibility is shared amongst the team.

Memorial Medical Center is an acute care hospital that offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services. Memorial carries Level I trauma status, and since 1970 has been affiliated with the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Springfield is centrally located in Illinois and is only a few hours away from Chicago, Indianapolis, and St. Louis.

New graduates or those new to perfusion are welcome to apply.


Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular perfusion training program.


Certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
A non-certified new graduate may practice under direct supervision of an Illinois licensed Perfusionist if board eligible and actively seeking board certification. A non-certified Perfusionist seeking certification must achieve certification within one calendar year from the date of graduation from an accredited perfusion school.
Licensed by the state of Illinois or license requirements being actively pursued.
Non-licensed Perfusionist may practice under direct supervision of Illinois licensed Perfusionist, (as indicated by Perfusion Practice Act, Illinois Department of Professional Regulation, 2002), for time period of up to one year from date of graduation from an accredited perfusion school while actively seeking certification and licensure.
License pending in the State of Illinois.
With proof active licensure as a Perfusionist under the laws of another state, territory, or country equal to the State of Illinois and application of licensure by endorsement to the State of Illinois, a State of Illinois license-pending Perfusionist may practice under direct supervision of a State of Illinois licensed Perfusionist for time period of up to six months from date of application for the State of Illinois license.

AmSECT Membership Eligibility

An Active Member shall be any perfusionist active in the practice of extracorporeal circulation technology. There are also opportunities to become a Transitional Active Member for those less than a year removed from graduation from an approved accredited training program. Other options include; an Associate Membership, International Membership, Perioperative Blood Management Clinician Membership, and Student Membership.
