Position: Staff Perfusionist

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, assembles and operates specific perfusion equipment used during any medical situation where it is necessary to support or temporarily replace the patient’s circulatory and/or respiratory function. Operates related advanced life support equipment.
•Must possess knowledge of biology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry and pharmacology acquired in college level science courses and/or in an accredited training program.
•Graduation from an accredited training program with the minimum of an Associate Degree in Cardiovascular Perfusion Clinical experience specified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion Technology and certification required.
•Approximately six months to one year on-the-job experience is preferred in order to understand complexity and responsibility of the position.
•Ability to concentrate for long periods of time, be able to think and react quickly in emergency situations, and must have a more than average degree of manual dexterity.
•Ability to make independent judgements to resolve complex problems consistent with accepted practices in cardiovascular perfusion.
•High level of analytical ability in order to anticipate, identify and solve life threatening perfusion problems.
•Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians and other operating room personnel.
