Position: Pediatric Perfusionist

Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, is currently recruiting for an additional full-time Pediatric Perfusionist to join a welcoming and supportive team of four perfusionists. Children’s National has a thriving pediatric and adult congenital cardiac program, in which the Perfusion team supports the day-to-day function of the cardiac operating room for cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) procedures along with supporting Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) and the Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) needs of the Heart Failure and Heart Transplant programs as well. Children’s National performs approximately 275-350 pump cases annually, in addition to providing coverage to approximately 120 non-cardiac cell salvage cases per year. Candidates must have the ability to work as a team member and the capacity to work under stressful situations at times. This position is responsible for providing CPB and cell salvage, as well as other perfusion services including ECMO and Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) support. ECMO and VAD experience is preferred but not required. 1 to 3 years of experience in pediatrics desired but not required; students with strong pediatric clinical experience will be considered. Must be ABCP board certified or obtain certification within the first year of employment. Participate in a shared call system.
