Pediatric Perfusionist

Position: Pediatric Perfusionist

Location: Austin, TX


Perform perfusion services to support a full spectrum of pediatric and congenital surgery including cardiac transplantation, mechanical assist devices, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), adult congenital surgery, and neonatal surgery.


Assembles, operates and disassembles the heart lung machine within the accepted safe scope of established clinical practice. Provides total patient support during cardiopulmonary bypass.

Sets up and operates ECMO's, Cell Savers, Rapid Infusion devices and all available perfusion devices which may involve the use of X-rays or fluoroscopy as a diagnostic aid in the procedure.

Manages the patient parameters within the accepted safe ranges of established clinical practice. Supports organ transplants, laser procedures, new surgical procedures and perioperative LVAD support.

Performs patient charting. Prepares sterile packs.

An Active Member shall be any perfusionist active in the practice of extracorporeal circulation technology. There are also opportunities to become a Transitional Active Member for those less than a year removed from graduation from an approved accredited training program. Other options include; an Associate Membership, International Membership, Perioperative Blood Management Clinician Membership, and Student Membership.
