Position: Pediatric or Adult Perfusionist

Location: Gainesville, FL

Description: The perfusionist is a skilled professional, qualified by academic and clinical education, who provides functions necessary for the support, treatment, measurement or supplementation of the cardiopulmonary and circulatory system of the patient. This professional operates extracorporeal circulation equipment during any medical situation where it is necessary to support or replace the patient’s cardiopulmonary/circulatory function and ensures the proper management of physiologic functions by monitoring the necessary variables. Prepares and administers blood products and prescription solutions through bypass circuitry. Regularly participates in the on call schedule.

Individual will be joining a team of 7 perfusionist (3 on pediatric) covering about 700 hearts, 250 standbys (250,50 on pediatrics).
No ECMO coverage. Cases include: CABG, Valves, Aortic Repairs, VADs, Xvivo, transplants, Left heart bypass, Tavrs, and stand-by. Great opportunity to learn and grow in the profession. Gainesville is 1.5 hours from east or west coast. 1.5 hours north of Orlando. Young and active community with a great amount of family events and fantastic schools. The position is in-house (university) great benefits and pay-scale $120,000-$185,000. , PTO, short and long term disability, life insurance, medical/dental/vision coverage, and a pension plan that includes 401K, matching plan. Continuing education allowances (up to $5,000/ year), CME time off.

Requirements: Certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion or Certification eligible with Board Certification within 6 months of employment. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Call response time 30 minutes.

An Active Member shall be any perfusionist active in the practice of extracorporeal circulation technology. There are also opportunities to become a Transitional Active Member for those less than a year removed from graduation from an approved accredited training program. Other options include; an Associate Membership, International Membership, Perioperative Blood Management Clinician Membership, and Student Membership.
