Position: Lead Perfusionist

Description:
Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), located in Boston, MA currently has an opportunity for an experienced Perfusionist to join a team of 17 full time Perfusionists and 3 Mechanical Assist Specialists as the Lead Perfusionist. This advanced position is a great opportunity for an individual interested in developing their leadership skills and working with a dynamic surgical team. The MGH Lead Perfusionist will work closely with the Director of Perfusion Services to fulfill the following responsibilities:
Provide oversight of daily clinical operations
Identify opportunities for improved quality and safety
Facilitate quality improvement and research projects
Be a resource to and mentor perfusion team members
Evaluate new technology and facilitate implementation
Provide education and ensure competency
The MGH Perfusion team has responsibility for several services and programs including:
Adult cardiopulmonary bypass for a complex case mix including a high volume of aortic, adult congenital, minimally invasive valve, heart and lung transplant, and pulmonary thromboendarterectomy procedures
Temporary and long-term mechanical assist devices
Liver transplantation
Hyperthermic chemotherapy
Circulatory support for donor heart, lung and liver using the organ care system
ECMO management and program development
Translational and clinical research
High fidelity CPB and ECMO simulation
Perfusion student education – clinical site for three perfusion education programs

Requirements:
The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a clinical perfusionist and a strong desire to develop their leadership knowledge and skill. Must be capable of acquiring a Massachusetts Perfusion License.
