To qualify, you must have a graduated from an accredited perfusion program with training as an ECMO NYS Perfusionist; have NYS RN licensure with training as an ECMO specialist; or be a NYS-licensed Respiratory Therapist. You must also have two years of intensive care experience; excellent written, verbal, editing, interpersonal and graphic skills; strong attention to detail; and possess knowledge of performance improvement methodology. An understanding of change management, professional practice, project management and organization will be essential. Completion of an ECMO perfusion course and prior ECMO coordinator experience are preferred.

You will be responsible for maintaining oversight of the required clinical and administrative documents for the neonatal, pediatric, and adult ECMO program; participating in the development, implementation, and use of clinical standard operating procedures and administrative operating procedures for the ECMO program; participating in preparation and evaluation of data and reports pertinent to ECMO patient population; developing and maintaining a consistent, comprehensive communication structure that will interface and ensure timely communication with all members of the team; assisting ECMO Directors with clinical oversight for the program and overall program coordination; and participating in the design, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement activities and research protocols. You will also be responsible for serving as an expert on the operation of the ECMO circuit and operating the circuit; serving as a clinical leader in ECMO technology and as backup to the ECMO specialist/primer; and identifying, providing, and evaluating staff, patient/family education needs.

There are also opportunities to become a Transitional Active Member for those less than a year removed from graduation from an approved accredited training program.
