Wellington is our nation’s capital and, as anyone who lives here will tell you, it’s a place that tugs at your heartstrings; a compact, cosmopolitan, cultural city; a place you quickly begin to call home. The globally loved travel guide agency, Lonely Planet, named Wellington as the 4th top city in the world to visit…and we also think…to live.
It’s location at the bottom of the North Island puts Wellington close to vineyards in the Wairarapa and Marlborough and beaches on the Kapiti Coast, within a short distance to numerous golf courses nestled into the regional landscape and in the heart of a natural harbour offering opportunities for fishing and many water sports.
The Cardiothoracic Service provides tertiary level services to the Greater Wellington Region. Services reach as far as Marlborough, Hawkes Bay, Wanganui, Palmerston North and the Wairarapa and are delivered from Wellington Regional Hospital. Our Perfusionists share in rostered and rotating shifts working Monday – Friday and also cover any required on-call, which will be 1:4-5 once this position is appointed.
Your experience as a clinical Perfusionist will include having knowledge of and experience in intra-aortic balloon pumping, cell saving, cardio-ablation and extra-corporeal life support for a wide range of adult cardiac surgery cases. It is essential you can demonstrate your skills working in and across diverse teams of health professionals, working as part of the wider theatre team. You will have the ability to work well under pressure and have the ability to think and act quickly. Your decision making ability will be backed up by sound judgement and experience operating within a best practice model. To be considered for this role you must hold board certification with the Australasian Society of Perfusionists or be eligible for registration holding board certification with either the American or British Society of Perfusionists.
We have a close knit-team supportive team where each team member is valued and offered opportunities for continuous training and development related to the role.
