Duke Perfusion has an exciting leadership opportunity to support our team, which through rapid growth of our heart program and regional collaboration, consists of over 30 staff perfusionists. The Chief will be responsible for the overall vision and strategy of Perfusion Services for the Health System. The Chief will collaborate with Duke Heart leadership in areas of operations, programmatic development, and the maintenance and application of perfusion technology to enhance quality, outcomes and research. The Chief has supervisory responsibility for three Associate Chief Perfusionists, the team’s Quality and Safety Officer and our affiliate program’s perfusion leadership.


The ideal candidate will possess a M.S. degree and completed training from an accredited perfusion program. Candidates must also be certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion with a minimum of five years as a practicing perfusionist. Progressive leadership experience in a similar organization is preferred. State Licensure is required for all practicing North Carolina Perfusionists.

An Active Member shall be any perfusionist active in the practice of extracorporeal circulation technology. There are also opportunities to become a Transitional Active Member for those less than a year removed from graduation from an approved accredited training program. Other options include; an Associate Membership, International Membership, Perioperative Blood Management Clinician Membership, and Student Membership.
