History of AmSECT

The American Society of Extra-Corporeal Technology was founded in 1964 in the belief that members of the then-new allied health field could best serve their profession by sharing their thoughts and experiences.

Steady growth was a keynote of AmSECT, as the ranks of perfusionists expanded with the increasing demand for open-heart surgery.

Today, AmSECT has over 2,000 members nationally and internationally. The Society works to ensure the exchange of information through the Journal of Extra-Corporeal Technology, AmSECT Today magazine, and through regional and national conferences.
