Position: Staff Perfusionist

Location: Sayre, PA

Description: 

To provide safe, competent and knowledgeable care of patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass, circulatory assist or other related procedures. To participate as an active member of the cardiac surgical team along with the surgeon, anesthesiologist, and other nursing staff members. To maintain an appropriate level of knowledge and clinical expertise through continuing education and self-development activities.

Requirements:

Perfusionist Education Requirements:

The staff perfusionist must be a graduate of an accredited school of perfusion, is Board Certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion and must obtain licensure by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Perfusionist Experience Requirements:

New staff perfusionists enter a planned departmental orientation program to become familiar with perfusion techniques and also to become familiar with the surgical department.

AmSECT Membership Eligibility

An Active Member shall be any perfusionist active in the practice of extracorporeal circulation technology. There are also opportunities to become a Transitional Active Member for those less than a year removed from graduation from an approved accredited training program. Other options include; an Associate Membership, International Membership, Perioperative Blood Management Clinician Membership, and Student Membership.
