Position: Staff Perfusion Assistant

Location: Buffalo, NY

Description: 

Procirca is actively recruiting a Perfusion Assistant to join the Mercy Hospital perfusion team composed of the Director of Perfusion and four staff perfusionists. The perfusion assistant performs under the supervision of a licensed physician and perfusionists, and according to prescribed procedures, those functions necessary for the support and treatment of the cardiopulmonary system of a patient. Participation on the call schedule may be requested.
CHS Mercy Hospital is the regional leader in cardiac surgery and valve repair. Their team of experienced cardiac and vascular surgeons are focused on providing compassionate and personalized care in a cooperative and cohesive manner. Current case volumes include 550-600 cardiac, 30 ECMO, and other blood management related procedures. ECMO coverage is provided using a hybrid model of nurses and perfusionists.

Requirements:

 Associate Degree in Health Science and/or Certification from Technical School Program
 Minimum of 2 years of related hospital perfusion services experience or related manufacturer experience and/or demonstrates equivalent proficiencies
 Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and chemistry
 Basic knowledge of hospital operations and regulatory requirements (as applicable)
 Basic communication and interpersonal skills
 General computer skills using Word, Excel, and Access
Preferred:
 Knowledge of blood recovery and biologic processing devices
 Basic understanding of cardiopulmonary bypass and associated techniques

An Active Member shall be any perfusionist active in the practice of extracorporeal circulation technology. There are also opportunities to become a Transitional Active Member for those less than a year removed from graduation from an approved accredited training program. Other options include; an Associate Membership, International Membership, Perioperative Blood Management Clinician Membership, and Student Membership.
