Position: Perfusionist-Cardiac Surgery

Location: Prairie Heart Institute- Springfield, Illinois

Description: Selects, assembles, operates, and monitors the heart lung machine and other perfusion equipment during open heart surgery. Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, directs, and coordinates all activities associated with the provision of extracorporeal support and cell saving of assigned patients in accordance with the medical plan and the policies and procedures.  Operates extracorporeal circulation equipment during  medical procedures requiring support or temporary replacement of patient's circulatory or respiratory functions.

Requirements: Ideal candidate will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to all patients/family served; Must be mature and capable of handling stressful, emergency situations.

Qualified candidates must hold an IL license and meet educational requirements established in the state of practice.

An Active Member shall be any perfusionist active in the practice of extracorporeal circulation technology. There are also opportunities to become a Transitional Active Member for those less than a year removed from graduation from an approved accredited training program. Other options include; an Associate Membership, International Membership, Perioperative Blood Management Clinician Membership, and Student Membership.
