Position: Perfusionist

Location: Jackson, TN

Description: Responsible for providing clinical perfusion and/or operation of cell saver to insure age specific patient care that includes pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Under the administrative supervision of the Inpatient/Specialty Clinic Director and the clinical supervision of the Cardio-Vascular surgeon, Operating Surgeon and/or Anesthesiologist is responsible for providing safe and effective cardio-pulmonary bypass for patients, addressing age specific needs, requiring open heart procedures and/or cell saver. Must operate and demonstrate knowledge of the physiological effect of the following systems:
1) Heart-Lung bypass, 2) Left and Right Ventricular Assist Devices, 3) Cell-saving Devices, 4) Coagulation Study Devices, 5) Hemo-Concentration Devices, 6) Cardioplegia Delivery Systems, 7) Blood Flow Measuring Devices, 8) Pressure Monitoring Devices, 9) Hemoglobin Measuring Devices, 10) Heater/Cooler Devices, 11) Ecmo Services, 12) Blood gas monitoring devices, 13) Angiovac, 14) BMA / Platelet Gel, 15) STS Data, 16) Maintenance and cleaning of all equipment as needed, 17) Maintaining Inventory, 18) Medi-stim Flow Probe

Employee is subject to call back as required by the hospital.

Requirements: Skill and proficiency in the principles, concepts, and techniques of cardio-pulmonary bypass. Such proficiency as acquired through completion of an accredited Perfusion Program. Certified or certification eligible by American Board of Cardio-Vascular Perfusion. Knowledge of hospital and surgical policies and procedures as acquired through an accredited Perfusion Program.

An Active Member shall be any perfusionist active in the practice of extracorporeal circulation technology. There are also opportunities to become a Transitional Active Member for those less than a year removed from graduation from an approved accredited training program. Other options include; an Associate Membership, International Membership, Perioperative Blood Management Clinician Membership, and Student Membership.
