Description: The University of Virginia Medical Center is expanding the adult perfusion program. We are looking for candidates who want to work in an academic setting while maintaining a positive work/life balance. We are nestled in within a small university town, located near the blue ridge mountains that offer an array of outdoor activities. If you are interested in a 4 day work week and one weekend a month call, please contact us. We have an experienced team of 14 perfusionists. We also have an amazing team of 15 full-time ECMO specialist who handles our ECMO support with minimal assistance from the perfusion department.
• Education: Graduate of an accredited program in Perfusion required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Experience: No experience required. VAD experience preferred.
• License/Certification: Certified to practice as a Perfusionist by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion; if new grad, certified within four exam offerings and within 24 months of hire date. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
The job requires sitting/standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/walking, climbing (ladder, steps) and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull > 100lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, fumes, heat, noise, cold, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
