Position: Perfusionist

Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina

Description: Clinical responsibilities may include, but are not limited to performance of cardiopulmonary bypass, intra-aortic balloon pumping, autologous blood processing, perfusion lab services, physiological monitoring, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, and ventricular assist device. The perfusionist also acts as a resource person for physicians, anesthesiologists, and OR personnel. They also may evaluate techniques and/or equipment for clinical application. Cape Fear Valley Health has 3 Cardiothoracic Surgeons doing 200 to 250 adult only cases annually. Duties additionally include Vascular/Standby/Cell Saver cases. 

Requirements: Perfusion technology school Diploma and evidence of certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion. North Carolina Medical Board licensure as Perfusionist is a must. Applicant should have a minimum of three years of recent experience as a certified Perfusionist.

AmSECT Membership Eligibility

An Active Member shall be any perfusionist active in the practice of extracorporeal circulation technology. There are also opportunities to become a Transitional Active Member for those less than a year removed from graduation from an approved accredited training program. Other options include; an Associate Membership, International Membership, Perioperative Blood Management Clinician Membership, and Student Membership.
