Position: Clinical perfusionist in adult cardiac surgery

Our clinical perfusionists are responsible for independently conducting extracorporeal circulation in adult patients during different types of cardiothoracic operations. They are also responsible for the maintenance of different circulation support devices including intra-aortic balloon pumps and assist devices. In our current team there is room for a qualified clinical perfusionist that can contribute to our team. The department of Cardiothoracic Surgery is committed to provide the highest quality care to all patients receiving heart surgery and associated therapies. Our approach is personal and involved. Our team consists out of 5 clinical perfusionists and one student in training. The perfusion department is known for providing high quality care in a pleasant work environment. Besides working in the operating rooms we are also actively involved in research projects to better our knowledge and understanding of our field of expertise. Currently, we perform about 600 open heart operations annually. These include pulmonary endarterectomies, occasional ECMO and HIPEC procedures. Amsterdam is the beautiful historic capital of the Netherlands that offers a comfortable and inspiring place to live. The VU University Medical Center is located close to the city’s old center.
Requirements: Registered Clinical Perfusionist, willingness to apply for certification and membership application of the Netherlands Society for Extracorporeal Circulation (NESECC) and the ambition to learn the Dutch language.
