Position: Clinical Perfusionist
Location: Lexington, KY
As an extension of our mission, Cincinnati Children's Hospital and the University of Kentucky have partnered to develop the Joint Pediatric Heart Care Program (JPHCP) providing pediatric and adult congenital heart care at Kentucky Children’s Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. The JPHCP Department of Cardiovascular Perfusion (DCP) is seeking a Clinical Perfusionist to join our current team of two providing pediatric and adult congenital perfusion services. The Clinical Perfusionist is responsible for the operation, maintenance and utilization of circulation technology applications including but not limited to: cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB); left heart bypass; mechanical circulatory support (MCS); ventricular assist device (VAD); extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO); myocardial preservation; autologous blood recovery/blood conservation; anticoagulation and hematologic monitoring/analysis; physiologic monitoring/analysis; blood gas and chemistry monitoring/analysis; induction of hypothermia with reversal; hemodilution; hemofiltration; administration of mediations, blood components and anesthetic agents via the extracorporeal circuit.
Bachelor’s degree required in an allied health field or equivalent with a strong science background and advanced training in circulation technology from a CAHEP accredited perfusion training program or an equivalent combination of education and perfusion experience.
Must be certified or eligible to sit for the certification exam and actively pursuing certification, by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion. Must attain certification within the first 18 months of employment. Certification must be maintained during the term of employment.
AmSECT’s Fellow of Pediatric Perfusion Designation.
Experience with pediatric ECMO and other MCS devices.
