Position: Chief Pediatric Perfusionist
Location: Augusta, GA (Augusta University Medical Center)
Description: The Chief Perfusionist position includes supervisory responsibilities for planning, directing, and organizing the work of a staff that covers 2 hospitals (24 hours a day, 7 days a week). Responsible for the operation of the pump-oxygenator (heart lung machine) and other related equipment for open heart surgery, emergency trauma, emergency heart patients, and other emergency long-term support. Functions as part of the Heart Surgery Team. Ensures safe transition of patients from operative setting to NICU/PCIU when patients remain on ECMO. Serves in consultative and support role for neonatal and pediatric ECMO teams. Responsible for management of Perfusion supply operational budgets covering both the Adult OR and Children’s Hospital of Georgia’s OR. Provide and schedule on-call backup coverage for the Bloodless Medicine Surgery Program Coordinator as required. Manage/oversee the BMSP budget.
Requirements: Bachelors degree. Masters degree preferred. Preferred 3 plus years of experience in pediatrics. Must be a Certified Perfusionist.
