Position: Adult Perfusionist - Clinical Instructor

Location: Oklahoma City, OK 


The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at the University of Oklahoma, College of Medicine is seeking candidates for a Staff Perfusionist in Cardiovascular Surgery at the rank of Clinical Instructor. The candidate must be board certified/eligible with the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.

Candidates must have a commitment to academic surgery, experience in perfusion is preferred but not mandatory. The clinical responsibilities of the position will be at the OU Medical Center, as well as the VA Medical Center. Expected duties:
Pumping and providing follow-up on adult heart surgery cases.
Covering call for emergent adult heart cases and emergent ECMO.
Coverage of cardiac cell saver, ECMO, Autologous platelet gel, Angiovac, and HIPEC cases.
Care and maintenance of pumps, supplies, and point of care anticoagulation.
Thromboelstography (TEG), chemistry and blood gas systems.
Attending continuing education classes/conferences in your field.
Researching and implementing best practices.
Assisting with research and practice improvement projects.
Making sure appropriate equipment and supplies are available for all types of open heart surgeries.
Other hospital committees and duties as assigned by Division Chief of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
